• Someone who goes out of their way to help others, whether that person is their princess captured by the villain, or their town taken over by an evil dictator. They often have personal reasons for doing what they do, it could be that their mother was killed by muggers, or that the town that was taken over was their home. They will be attractive, kind, almost perfect in every way, or someone trying to defy odds stacked against them, basically anyone who is trying to right wrongs, and of course they have to be relate able to an audience, someone you can cry with when they are defeated, or smile with when they succeed, because everyone wants to be a hero, but few people are.

BUT an ARCHETYPAL Hero is either;

Unusual circumstance of birth

Supernatural help.

Special weapon

Leaves family and lives with others.

None of the criteria above, maybe apart from the last point has any relevance to Bruce though, a very controversial point.

The Three Trailers Review

The representation of Bruce willis in them three trailers, are all same, but also unique, for instance;
In Die Hard, Bruce Willis is saving people in New York from a terrorist.
In Armageddon Bruce Willis is Saving the worl from a meteor.
And in Unbreakable, He is the one that has been saved altogether.

So as you can see, all of the scenarios that Bruce Willis gets put into are all unique, but he is always at the heart of the operation, and he is always doing good for Humanity.

Unbreakable Trailer

This trailer looks quite intense, and from what im getting at, this film would be a good contrast on the films im doing, because an American action hero could be deemed as Unbreakable.

Armageddon Trailer

This Trailer is not as action-packed as Die Hard 3, but it does show more of the consequences of what could happen if Bruce does not do his Action Hero duty. Bruce is portrayed as the leader of the pack in this trailer and he takes on the role as cool as ever!

Die Hard Trailer

This is one of my favourite films, and straight away the trailer grips you with suspense. Bruce is shown as his normal character with guns, and i also think that there is a bit of irony, especially when he says 'why me?' as if it is always him, which it usually is!

What I am going to study!

After sitting down and discussing my ideas with Mrs Raji, We both thought that Bruce Willis, and his representations of an action hero would be a fun yet challenging task, so my Question now is ;
How is Bruce Willis represented as an Archetypal American action her in the Films : Die Hard 3, Armageddon and Hostage?

In these three films Bruce willis does end up saving the day, city and world, so they are good films to analyse his performances on.

Ideas

For my small scale research project, am looking to look at performers and study a certain performer, I quite like Morgan Freemans character in Shaw shank redemption. But I am also quite torn because I am not familiar with a majority of his films, so this woukd mean I would have to start analysing films from scratch.

I also like the idea of studying Vince Vaughn, because he is one of my favourite actors and is very a very comical actor. Although, creating a question/topic to study on him will be very hard.
